[ 2000 883 Harley Sportster ]
What's this about? Sharing information. You never know where you'll find new ideas or help for your bike so that's why I decided to put up these pages. It may end up helping someone who finds themself in a similar situation. I welcome any constructive feedback.
I stumbled upon a 2000 883 Sportster Hugger at the end of September 2010. It just had its 5000 mile servicing having turned over 5100 miles.
I had been looking for a used Harley that was not too abused so I could ride and learn to work on the bike and make modifications without a lot of worries about my investment. Plus, I will need to ride down dirt and muddy roads on a constant basis so I don't need a beauty queen. The bike had several things done to it that I was not aware of at the time but the bike ran good and it was pretty much what I had been looking for. $3500 got the bike, title, all paperwork and the manuals.
After I got the bike home and gave it a much needed bath I began to find the modifications that had been made to the bike already - and not all for the better - appearance and safety. At this point it's sink or swim so I jumped right in and began to fix/make my bike.
